Partnerships

Open News Collective considers collaborations that help readers understand news publishing without compromising editorial independence. Proposals should identify the partner, the intended audience and the form of the work.

What we consider

Possible collaborations include clearly defined educational resources, conversations about publishing practice and relevant partner placements across the site. We consider whether a proposal fits the publication's subject, offers readers a clear purpose and can be presented without disguising its commercial or organizational connection.

How work is labelled

Partner-created or partner-supported material is labelled where readers encounter it. Paid or otherwise commercial placements are identified as such; the label does not imply independent endorsement. Editorial articles remain under editorial control, and a partnership does not guarantee coverage or a favourable conclusion.

Making a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the partnership option. Describe the proposed activity, the parties involved, any payment or other support, the intended placement and the subject you have in mind. We do not imply that a proposal has been accepted until the terms and labelling are agreed.

Our approach

News is made through choices

Those choices affect what readers see first, what gets explained and what may be missed. We make the process easier to examine without treating any format as neutral by default.
